Dear Friend,

What inspires a person to change, even when their spirit has been crushed?

For Michael Hood-Bey, recipient of our 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award (pictured on the left), and so many more participants at Samaritan Ministry, it’s a sense that they can do ANYTHING with support from SMGW staff. That sense is instilled through the rigorous compassion, expert coaching and close collaboration that all define the Next Step Program.
Will you inspire people
to believe that
change is possible?
“Coming out of prison there’s lots of different programs, but I heard about Samaritan Ministry’s Next Step Program directly from a friend – a person who walked me to the door of the SE–Anacostia office, and into the welcoming smile of Ms. Naima Harrison, the Case Worker there. Naima gave me a smile from the moment I walked in that door and has never stopped smiling. Every time I see her – whether she feels up to par or not – she’s smiling at me and encouraging me. Her smile made me feel at home and that I could count on her for anything.”

Today Michael has a part-time job and a goal to obtain full-time employment – and a career – because he wants to leave a lasting impact in this world. And he’s doing it one next step at a time.

Through our Next Step Program, Samaritan Ministry staff – paid and volunteer – inspire participants to work toward the changes they want in their lives.

But ONLY YOU can empower our staff so that they can be there for participants. Will you make YOUR IMPACT by supporting the Next Step Program – including our STRIVE job readiness training – before 2018 ends?

On behalf of Michael and all whom we serve, thank you for your partnership and your empowerment of us as we empower those who are committed to changing their lives.

Rev. David B. Wolf
Executive Director
