Dear POB Supporters,

We're overdue for an update about progress on the water front in Blanco. These have been busy months! Two topics deserve highlighting: Municipal Utility District developments and Blanco Water Reclamation Task Force progress.

Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) in Blanco Community Meeting

Developers use Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) to build new subdivisions--without careful planning, those MUDs can create severe impacts on the surrounding community.

Protect Our Blanco and Hill Country Alliance are hosting a virtual Community Meeting on Tuesday, April 6 from 6-7pm to cover helpful policies to guide good MUD developments and discuss implications of lack of guidance.

Blanco Water Reclamation Task Force

In its Sept. 22, 2020 meeting, the Blanco City Council approved the creation of a Blanco Water Reclamation Task Force made up of four representatives for the City of Blanco and four members named by Protect Our Blanco facilitated through an MOU with the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment.

Working together, the Task Force has secured funding for the first round of analysis, issued the request for qualifications for engineering analysis, and work has begun on identifying system-specific alternatives to direct discharge. The Task Force has compiled resources and examples of successful MUD policies and has presented them to Council.

Together, we can share a vision for human and ecological health, economic sustainability, and enriched community, and renewal of the human spirit. Thank you for your generous financial contributions to our watershed protection programs and standing with us as leaders of a movement to sustain our land and water.

Please tune in to the Community Meeting and support the Task Force in identifying workable alternatives to discharge into the Blanco.
