May is National Bike Month

Of the many rites of passage in life, getting your first bicycle, for many of us, ranks as one of the most memorable. As a kid, and especially as an adult, there's a freedom with riding a bicycle that's hard to explain. At some point during every outing, a moment occurs when you forget about the physical act of riding and start thinking and feeling the ride on a much deeper level. It's a huge stress reliever, and it connects you with the earth and your surroundings in profound ways.
It's no wonder that bike tourism is among the fastest growing segments in the outdoor industry. During the pandemic, huge numbers of people rediscovered the stress relief and health benefits of riding a bicycle. Riding bikes is a great way to spend time with friends and family, too, and many adults have realized that it's just as enjoyable now as it was when they were kids.
PA Route 6, and the small towns that dot its course, is a prime destination for cyclers. In fact, PA Route 6 is designated as BicyclePA Route Y as well as USBR 36, making this region not only a destination, but an experience.
Here at PA Route 6 Alliance, we're excited about new bike tourism opportunities. What a great way to showcase all the history, charm, and attractions of the highway we know and love!
In this email, you'll find numerous resources for planning your next bike trip along PA Route 6. And if you own a business, check out our "Bike Friendly Business Program, " which is designed to help you accommodate the needs of bicycle travelers in this region.

As more visitors explore PA Route 6 by bicycle, businesses throughout the region stand to benefit from increased customers and spending at shops, restaurants, and overnight accommodations. The FREE PA Route 6 Bike Friendly Business Program has been developed to help businesses and the entire region become more bike-friendly and attract more bicycling visitors.

Next Stop on PA Route 6...Culinary Delights!
Members of the Artisan Trail are known for their skills creating art, pottery, painting, sculptures, and breathtaking photography. We also have many members who specialize in food and drink. These artisans take common ingredients, add their own special flair, and create a one-of-a-kind treat for all to enjoy. At PA Route 6 Alliance, we have a simple definition for these culinary delights..."DELICIOUS!"
Artisan Trail coordinator Erin Morey recently road-tripped to the Great Lakes Region to meet a few of our artisans that specialize in savory treats.
Of course, we think of culinary delights as more than just food, and if you've ever tasted drinks from places like The Brew Ha Ha at The Colony, you know exactly what we mean! So pack up the car and take a little trip to discover the makers and the bakers in the Great Lakes Region of the Artisan Trail.
