Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance Received a $585,000 Community Conservation Partnership Program Grant Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources | |

Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance is pleased to announce that we have been awarded $585,000 by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through the competitive C2P2 (Community Conservation Partnerships Program) grant. This significant funding will support a wide array of vital initiatives across the PA Route 6 Heritage Corridor and beyond, continuing the longstanding and valued partnership between DCNR and the Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance.

Update the Management Action Plan for the Pennsylvania Route 6 Heritage Area, ensuring that it aligns with current needs and opportunities.

Facilitate the Façade and Signage Improvement Program in the Pocono Mountain region, enhancing the visual appeal and vibrancy of the area’s historic downtowns.

Develop Bicycle Tourism Assets along the Route 6 corridor, continuing efforts to make the region a prime destination for cyclists.

Support Tourism Promotion and Marketing Campaigns, helping to further market Pennsylvania Route 6 as a premier heritage tourism destination.

Provide Technical Assistance to PA Route 6 Heritage Communities, including support for the PA Heart & Soul Program, which works with local residents to identify and preserve the core values of their communities.

Promote the PA Route 6 Artisan Trail, showcasing the talent and creativity of local artisans and contributing to the region’s cultural and economic vitality.
The Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance thanks DCNR for its continued investment in the future of the region and looks forward to the positive impact these initiatives will have on the heritage area and the communities along the corridor.

We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt thanks to Eulalia Township in Potter County for passing their Resolution supporting PA Route 6 as a Pennsylvania Byway! This is a major milestone in our efforts to preserve the scenic, cultural, and historical significance of Route 6 while promoting sustainable tourism and community development across the region.
Eulalia Township’s commitment to this initiative reflects the community’s dedication to enhancing the unique character of our region and protecting the natural beauty that makes PA Route 6 such a special place. With the support of Eulalia Township, along with 33 other municipalities in four consecutive counties, we are one step closer to achieving byway designation, which will help highlight and protect the many treasures along PA Route 6.

"Paint the Town, Hawley"
– Call for Art Submissions –
The Wayne County Arts Alliance is excited to announce a new “Call for Art Submissions” for our banner art project in Hawley, PA. Due to the success and positive community response, we are pleased to offer this opportunity for a second year. In collaboration with the Downtown Hawley Partnership, and the Foundation for Harmony Presents we plan to install an additional series of banners to be mounted on the poles in Hawley PA. Each of these banners will be a print of an original artwork by area artists. We are asking artists to submit digital images of their artwork for consideration.
Deadline for entries is January 30, 2025. Selections will be announced soon afterward and the banners are scheduled to be installed in April 2025.

Trails Capacity Grant Call for Proposals Now Open!
American Trails and Bronco Wild Fund are pleased to continue the Trails Capacity Grant Program in 2025. This program is targeted for projects on all federal public lands, as well as state, local, and private lands accessible to the public. Project applicants may include nonprofit organizations, businesses, or agencies at the state or local level. American Trails is administering this grant program, and is soliciting proposals for funding, with awards between $2K and $10K per project. Deadline is January 31, 2025 by 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Bureau of Recreation and Conservation Welcomes New Regional Advisor
The Bureau of Recreation and Conservation welcomes Kelsey Hope as the new regional advisor for northwestern Pennsylvania.
Kelsey comes to the bureau after serving more than three years as Park Manager for Laurel Hill, Kooser, and Laurel Ridge State Parks.
Kelsey holds a Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Science and Environmental Remote Sensing. She also holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in Parks and Recreation and the other in Geography.
In her free time, Kelsey enjoys
cross-country skiing, snowboarding, exploring, and eating.

PAEE Conference Exhibitor Opportunities
The Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators (PAEE) is looking for Exhibitors for their 2025 Annual PAEE Conference at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, PA. The theme of this year’s conference – Waves of Connection – celebrates what makes PAEE so special: the collective ability as passionate environmental educators to drive change through resilience, diversity, engagement, and connections. PAEE encourages presentations that incorporate experiences and activities from community events, school programs, advocacy work, staff training, and more.
