Successful Water the Lawn Fundraiser
[You Did Avoid ~
Putting the Pastor Out to Pasture Faster]
| What a wonderful gathering last Sunday evening at the home of Bernie and Michelle Reisberg. There was so much to celebrate, it is hard to know where to begin. |
Thank you, Bernie and Michelle for your warmth and hospitality. Not everyone would welcome 75 guests to walk around their home. Thank you to Michelle McCreery, Mark Duff and Brad Anderson. Michelle always manages to prepare a wonderful meal. This food was exquisite– and served with the proper beverages poured by Mark and his bar back Brad. Thanks to Marty Carlson for moving furniture and food up and down the hill.
|
Thank you to Susanne Haas and Dale Thomas for organizing the silent auction. They solicited a wonderful collection of items and services- from sourdough baking classes to a weekend stay at the Harvard Club in New York. Thank you for all those who contributed items, gifts and services. And thanks to all who bid on the items. Everyone found a way to contribute in a meaningful way to the success of this fundraiser.

Service of Healing
October 22nd
9:30 AM

| |
The Sunday nearest to October 22nd, the Festival Day for Saint Luke is often marked as a day for special services for healing. Saint Luke is often referred to in scripture as the Great Physician and in medieval times he was the patron saint of doctors and surgeons. According to the Book of Acts he travelled with St. Paul on his missionary journeys and may have attended to his medical needs. You’ll find Saint Luke’s image in the balcony window with his traditional symbol of the ox. Numerous hospitals across the United States are named after Saint Luke.
The Service for Prayer and Healing will be a part of the Prayers of the Church and anointing of oil will occur during Holy Communion.

Confirmation Sunday
October 29th
In many Lutheran churches the Confirmation Worship Service is known as the Affirmation of Baptism. The name recalls the promises that were made by the parents and godparents at the time of a child’s baptism. They vowed that the Christian faith would be the child’s one day, and that they would speak on behalf of the child until that day comes. The Rite of Affirmation is that coming of age for the young adult. It is also a day for a renewal of the faith through the laying on of hands and the giving of the Holy Spirit. On Reformation Sunday, October 29th, we will celebrate confirmation for Murphy Kappel, Spencer Reisberg and Clayton Kunerth.

The St. Martin Dinner is the culmination of our winter clothes drive for Project for Pride for Living.
