A Health Tip from Rose!

Health Tip: Stress Less

Starting in March, National Public Radio reporter Alison Aubry presented a series of

articles outlining ways people are successfully lowering their stress levels. The first

article highlights the work of a Northwestern University psychologist, Judith Moskowitz. Over 20 years of research working with people who were dealing with severely stressful experiences she noticed that they often wanted to discuss beautiful life events as well. Learning from her patients, she developed an online course called

8 Skills to ManageStress

#1 POSITIVE EVENTS: Notice when positive things happen in your life

#2 SAVORING: Relish the positive things in your life

#3 GRATITUDE: Appreciate what brings you happiness

#4 MINDFULNESS: Focus on the present moment without judgment

#5 POSITIVE REAPPRAISAL: Find the silver lining

#6 SELF COMPASSION: Be kind to Yourself

#7 PERSONAL STRENGTHS: Recognize your unique abilities

#8 ATTAINABLE GOALS: Make plans that set you up for success

Why not choose one or more of the skills above to focus on this week? You can talk to a friend or journal about the experience. The more we practice the more skillful we can get at managing our stress!

The Annual Per Capita payment for 2025 is $40.89

This is the amount that each church in the presbytery pays per member.

Of this year's amount, $10.84 goes to the national church PCUSA,

$4.25 to the Synod of the Northeast, and $25.80 to Hudson River Presbytery.

To pay for your per capita, you may send the amount to our church however you usually donate, but designate it for "Per Capita"

Thank you!
