“Expressive Range”, is the title of the September 2021 Exhibit at the Deming Art Center and will feature husband and wife, multi-media artists, Jeremiah (Jerry) and Carolyn Cogan from Silver City.
Jerry, a retired physician, began taking art classes as a way to relax and found watercolor to be his favorite medium, but also pursues drawing, oils, acrylic and sculpture. Photography was initially for providing subject matter for his art, but with digital photography becoming an art form he could pursue it in the limited available time. Since retiring in 2018, Jerry has added lapidary and silversmithing to his pursuit. He has exhibited his art in numerous states, has won awards and has work in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Carolyn Cogan began her love of photography with her first camera at age ten. As an adult it was primarily used to document travels and family memories. She focused on photography first
with a film camera and then Digital photography and photoshop expanded her ability, aided by a formal photography course and photoshop workshops. She has been published in Black &
White magazine and has photographs in corporate and private collections throughout the United States. Carolyn also took up weaving as an adult. She began with tapestry and four shaft
weaving and has expanded her knowledge and talents through seminars and workshops. She has also broadened her weaving knowledge by volunteering at Handweavers Guild of America Convergences. She prefers multi shaft weaving and is pursuing a Certificate of Excellence which is a Master Weaver program.
The exhibit will run from September 2- 29, 2021. The Deming Art Center is located at 100 S. Gold St, Deming NM and is open from Monday - Saturday 10AM – 4PM.
This project is supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of
the Department of Cultural Affairs, and by the National Endowment for Art.
