GPLHS Monthly Update

November 2022

Prayer for Great Plains Lutheran High School

O Lord, in this month of Thanksgiving we offer you our sincere gratitude for all the blessings that come to your people through Great Plains Lutheran High School. Thank you for the faithfulness of faculty and staff, and for the dedication of students and families. Thank you for lessons learned, for the application of God’s Word to various subjects and situations, and for opportunities to engage in lives of service. Bless the use of new facilities as students are nurtured as lifelong disciples of Christ. May the ministry of GPLHS be another way your people are equipped and encouraged to be courageous in Christ as they live to your glory. Amen.

Facility Expansion

By the time you read this, site work around our new facilities and extended storm water drainage around the west and south sides of the school and gym should be completed. This will also make possible completion of the bus parking area south of the gym. We hope to address some related landscaping this fall, but completion will likely have to wait until next spring/summer.

Turkey Dash

GPLHS is hosting the Annual Turkey DASH 5K/Walk in conjunction with the Watertown police department. This event will take place on Thanksgiving Day. The deadline to register and receive a t-shirt is November 10. Registration and more detailed information can be found at www.watertownsd.us/DocumentCenter/View/5860/Turkey-Day-5k-Registration-forms or register online at active.com. Please note you will not be able to register the day of the event.

United in Praise

We plan to celebrate with thanksgiving the completion of our United in Praise capital campaign and the completion of our new facilities in two ways. A Ribbon Cutting (4:30) and Open House (4:30-6:30) is being planned for Wednesday, November 2. Then on Saturday, November 5, the opening of our delegate and auxiliary meetings will include an opportunity to unite in praising God and thanking his people for the resources and gifts, skills and safe progress that have made our expansion possible. We invite you to join us on either or both of these days!

Mission Advancement Thoughts

We have much to rejoice in and much to be thankful for this fall season. We have 129 young people growing in their faith every day. We have young people using their talents through sports, music, academics, clubs and just day to day life. We have the chance to be thankful for the opportunities God has given us to help support the beautiful ministry of GPLHS.

We also are blessed to have some challenges. Presently we are about $88,000 behind budgeted gifts. This might seem like a huge challenge to meet, but with many...................READ MORE
