GPLHS Monthly Update
July 2019
Prayer for Great Plains Lutheran High School
Dear Lord, provider of faithful servants, we thank you for all those who have prepared for the noble task of teaching and are now preparing for the upcoming school year. We especially ask you to bless first-year teachers as they undertake this responsibility. We are grateful for all the faithful teachers you have provided to Great Plains Lutheran High School, including four teachers who are new to GPL. Bless their transition to this new place of service, even as you bless all those who are discovering how best to serve in new circumstances. May their effort resound to your glory.
Panther Camp
80 middle school students were recently on GPL’s campus for a week of fun and fellowship at Panther Camp. Future Panthers from near and far enjoyed activities such as handchimes, geocaching, playing chess and backgammon, creating new foods, swimming, sports activities and much more. We pray the Lord used their time with us to spark a love for GPL and our ministry.
State Golf Recap
GPL sent two individuals to State this year. Sam Hansen and Colin Jaeger finished their season placing 6 th and 31 st respectively out of 111 golfers in the two day tournament. Sam was also selected for the All State Team. Congratulations!

They're Here
This month we are welcoming four new faculty members to GPLHS. Sam Kleinke is joining us to be our primary science teacher. Ryan Rosenthal will be teaching a variety of subjects including science, health and English. On Call day at MLC we were blessed to have Anna Ziel assigned as our new English teacher and Tyler Wahl as our dormitory supervisor and instructor. Join us in welcoming them to Watertown.
Wish List
We are happy to share that the padded team sideline chairs have all been purchased. Thank you!! This month we are seeking donations to purchase a new desk chair for Mrs. Miller. Gifts of $350 will cover the cost of this item. You can contribute by contacting Mrs. Arndt in the office – 605-886-0672 or by clicking the link below. Be sure to designate your gift to “Wish List – Office Chair for Mrs. Miller.”

Watching God's Blessings Grow
At high school graduations we often hear parents and grandparents express sentiments like: “When did he grow to be so tall?” “Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small?” Yet, as young people grow from infancy and mature into young adulthood, we recognize that this is by God’s design. We’re watching God’s blessings grow.

School is Out but Not Really
School is out but GPLHS has still been a hive of activity over the past month. Panther Camp kept the campus and dorm active from June 4 through June 8. Also during that week 6 GPL students were on a Spanish immersion trip to Guatemala. These activities were followed by a football camp in Sioux Falls, a basketball camp, a volleyball skills camp and we finished the month with Camp Luther in Sibley State Park, MN. What will July bring? Check the dates below.
Dates to Note
  • June 27 - July 5 - Gym closed for floor resurfacing
  • July 8 - Aug 2 - Elite Performance Camp
  • July 21-28 - Whole in One VBS in Alabama
  • July 27 - BOD meeting
