GPLHS Monthly Update

March 2023

Prayer for Great Plains Lutheran High School

Heavenly Father, as we enjoy special opportunities this Lenten season to sit at your feet and contemplate your Son’s passion, we thank you for all schools, such as Great Plains Lutheran High School, where students daily have the opportunity to hear your word and grow in your grace. Bless all those who faithfully serve in our Lutheran schools. May the knowledge that you have overcome sin and death through Christ Jesus uplift us, empower us, and move us to live courageously as your disciples as we look forward to the gracious reward of heaven. Amen.

GSI Thrift Annual Meeting

GSI Thrift will hold its annual meeting at GPLHS on Sunday, March 12 at 1:15pm. The meeting will include the approval of disbursement recommendations, the election of board members and reports from the GSI board president and store manager. Over the years GPLHS and its students have been greatly blessed through the efforts of GSI, its staff, donors and volunteers. As of this year, GSI has donated over 1.5 million dollars to GPLHS. Individuals interested in this work are invited and encourage to attend.

Join us Sunday, March 12 at 2:30pm for music from our piano students and 3:00pm for the GPL Spring Concert. GPL music students, both instrumental and vocal, will perform in the GPLHS Chapel/Auditorium. If you are not able to join us in person, you can watch online.

The awards ceremony for our winter activities students and families will be held on Sunday, March 12 immediately following the Spring Concert. Participants in girls and boys basketball, cheerleading and the One Act play will be recognized. There will not be a meal served that evening.

Booster Meeting

The Panther Booster club will meet on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00pm. All families are welcome to come to the meeting as we take a look at the blessings from this year’s concession seasons and consider how these gifts can be best put to use at GPLHS for our students and programs.

The dates for Camp Luther are June 18-23. Watch for more details and registration information in the near future.

Mission Advancement Thoughts

Sometimes we overlook or do not realize some of the opportunities we have available to us. I recently found this to be true, when we were working with our alumni to get more of them involved in regular monthly support of Great Plains Lutheran by using automatic withdrawal. A number of them responded, “This is great; we just didn’t realize we could do it.” Or they said, “We had not thought about gifting to the ministry of GPL in this way.”

This made me think: Is this the case for many of us? We presently have around 40 individuals who share their gifts with us automatically each month. This is a real blessing because it helps stabilize our income, especially in the slow months. Many of these gifts are not a huge monthly amount, but they add up...........READ MORE
