Monday night, June 28th, is the last regular meeting of the City Council for fiscal year (July 1-June 30). One major item the Council will be considering is the annual Budget for adoption for fiscal year 2021-22. Development of the budget for this next year was challenging and complex, and essentially began in November of last year when a deep analysis of pandemic-impacted revenues and expenditures began for mid-year budget adjustments in early February, 2021. The budget development process then continued March to June, over the course of six different City Council meetings, to develop prudent budget recommendations to continue excellent programs and services for the community, and undertake critical capital projects, despite $2.1 million in revenue losses due to the impacts of COVID-19. I encourage you to read at least the summary provided in my Budget Transmittal Memo. FY2021-22 is poised to be another exciting and productive year (and a welcome change from the pandemic challenges of the last year)!
Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
