Dear Wildlife Partner,
Earlier this week, I was in touch about the legal challenge to defend habitat protections under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). NCWF joined as a co-litigant with other select wildlife conservation partners. Today, I’m emailing to ask you to be part of the challenge and help wildlife even before they are listed under the ESA.
North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is leading the effort to advance Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA) in the U.S. Senate alongside Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico. This bipartisan legislation would provide dedicated funding to state wildlife agencies to conserve at-risk wildlife before species require federal protection under the ESA, a common-sense, cost-effective solution.
RAWA and the ESA together are truly Action Before Extinction.
From pollinators and songbirds to salamanders, freshwater mussels, and hundreds of other species identified in North Carolina's Wildlife Action Plan, RAWA would provide state agencies with help to protect and restore habitat, address emerging threats, and support science-based conservation efforts before wildlife populations decline further and require listing under the ESA.
NCWF's conservation policy team has spent years working alongside conservation partners, educating decision-makers, and building support for this landmark legislation. Senator Tillis's leadership gives RAWA its strongest opportunity yet, but there is still important work to do. Our team continues to advocate for wildlife in Washington, D.C., and here at home to help move this bill across the finish line.
That's where you come in.
The same team helping defend the ESA in court is also working to advance proactive conservation solutions like RAWA. Your gift today supports NCWF experts, analysis, and strategic messaging as the heeded voice for North Carolina wildlife wherever these decisions are being made and no matter who is listening.
