Abused and neglected children bear the impact of their trauma their entire lives.
One morning earlier this month, an 8-year-old boy in our care, “Henry”, was discovered to have a bullet in his pocket upon intake. Henry also repeatedly talked about having a knife in his pocket because he needed protection.
Can you imagine what Henry has experienced in life so far that he was continually afraid he would come to harm? House Parents reassured Henry throughout his stay here that he was safe.
Abused and neglected children bear the impact of their trauma their entire lives. That trauma costs them healthy relationships, stable lives, and their own sense of worth. Children who have suffered trauma become adults who have higher occurrences of medical and mental health issues.
