Artist Notes:

I don't know what happens when we leave the mountains and head back to our homes down in the "flatlands." The memory of the enormous mounds of rock fades, and the size shrivels in our minds – so much so that the next time these mountains are visited, the rush of excitement and awe-inspiring scale is right there in the heart of the viewer, again. Wonder of all kinds seems to fade with the passing of time. Remember the excitement when you saw the one you love on that third or fourth date!  I can recall the joy when my parents surprised me with an electric guitar for my birthday and can count on two or three hands the extreme joy I had at other times (my wedding, our boys' births, etc., etc.).

Joy and wonder – they are participation sports and something to be immersed in, like a place to "let go," and to be held there - as if floating in Daddy's arms in a pool.  They seem to come from a place inside where there are no worries, where we are being "held" by another, and where there is an assurance that there is a future and a hope. I think this is part of the wonder of the mountains. This awesome handiwork of God screams, "look at ME! I'm here, I'm for you, you are small, but I've got this" – as they stand strong over us, and point towards the heavens.

I wanted to create that sense of "I am small" but look at all that wonder, peace, and beauty as you stand and look out over the Great Smoky Mountains and breathe in the sense of belonging, that sense of being held, and of knowing you are loved and cared for in this new image. Experience the Joy as I do every time I visit these grand old mountains and the friendly folks that live among them.

Village Evening is going FAST!

Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of Gatlinburg's iconic The Village.

Artist Notes:

Every time I visit Gatlinburg, my all-time favorite spot to meander around, it is a quaint little spot called "The Village"! It is like stepping back in time and experiencing a moment in history when life was filled with personal encounters with shop owners and friends, cool evening air, and favorite experiences. The Village was dreamed into existence in 1965 at the beginning of America's Road trip vacation experiences across our great land by a couple of local families. It almost became a Holiday Inn, at one time, but instead, they hoped they could create an experience that would draw people in and off the busy Parkway to unique shops such as the Donut Friar and other fabulous enterprises and beautiful European style architecture. This they did! As you enter the brick entrance gate from the Parkway, one steps back in time to brick paved courtyards, fountains, shade trees and building styles reminiscent of the old world. Here, it seems to be OK to be a kid again and indulge our "vacation selves" with delightful sights and wonderful tastes.

After painting this scene and posting it on Facebook, I heard from dozens of folks that said "I sat in that very spot in 1969 or in 1972 with my mom and dad and ate at the Donut Friar and had cotton candy and other memorable experiences. I realized that I was bringing into focus fond memories long forgotten. I hope this scene is one from your memory which brings about the feeling of yesteryear nostalgia, great family memories, and a sense of "I want to sit a while and take it all in" here on this beautiful "Village Evening."

Artist Notes:

It finally happened! The sun came out after it hid all winter long here in Tennessee and we got some warmth and light! This little cub climbed his favorite tree to see the cherry blossoms and smell the fresh spring air! This spring has been especially beautiful, and I think April has become my favorite month of the year! I hope y’all enjoy this little cub and rejoice with him that Spring Is In The Air!

Artist Notes:

If you’ve spent a lot of time watching bears like I have, you’ve probably seen this funny animal behavior! When a cub sees an excellent opportunity, he’ll hop off a tree on his momma’s back and let her do the walking for a while!

This little cub is perched on moms back above the thick, high growth of a summer meadow. The rich tapestry of wildflowers might obscure moms vision, but her baby is her periscope! He can see for miles! It reminded me of what it felt like to be lifted up on parents shoulders when I was a kid, and how that made me feel so tall and invincible.

Location Consolidation

We opened our doors at Lamplight in 2005, with an exciting venture beyond the Thomas Kinkade Galleries.  Desiring to create an atmosphere that showcased various artists, we opened Lamplight as a sister location to our Village Gallery. As we grew beyond the Thomas Kinkade Company into our own entity of Master's Editions, our small venture became a phenomenal blessing as each of our galleries began to mimic our Lamplight footprint. Now, 15 years later, and after all of our locations have merged into multi-artist galleries, we have decided to consolidate our Village locations. Now, when you visit The Village stop by our Village Gallery to experience all the wonder and excitement that is Master's Editions Fine Art Gallery!
