New Outreach Partnership!
Academy 4 Mentors Needed
|
|
This fall, we will begin a new partnership with Alice Contreras Elementary School and Academy 4 – and we need your help!
Academy 4 takes place one Friday afternoon a month during the school year. All fourth-grade students, mentors, and volunteers gather on the school campus on the same afternoon for a fun-filled time of leadership training and relationship building.
-
We need 80 individuals, ages 16 & up, to make this nine-month commitment for the 2021-2022 school year.
-
Mentors are provided with onsite training, easy to follow curriculum, and fun activities to do with your 4th grader.
-
All it takes is 90 minutes, once a month!

The Children’s Closet Box-It & Distribution Day
This Wednesday, August 11
|
|
Volunteers of all ages are needed to help this Wednesday, August 11 at The Children's Closet Box-it and Distribution Day (BID Day). Volunteers will pack "Starter Kits," that include uniform shirts and pants, for 40 schools, on the morning of August 11. Other volunteers will load the boxes into counselors' cars as they drive through the church parking lot later in the day. The packing and loading work will be strenuous and the weather is likely to be hot. Some additional volunteers are also needed to work indoors to compile "supply bags" for counselors.

What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? Oh really? Well I don’t like that flavor! … and that’s okay.
Maybe you don’t like my favorite flavor of ice cream. But the point is we both like ice cream, so we have something in common (and if you don’t like ice cream, I don’t know what to say!)
UCC is starting a new worship service called Ten:10. It will meet in Walker Hall at 10:10 each Sunday morning – casual in style, with an acoustic guitarist leading music. It is a service designed for folks for whom traditional worship is not their favorite, well, flavor of worship. This might not be your favorite flavor…and that’s okay. But I bet you know someone who WOULD, and I hope you’ll invite them.
I’ll be preaching, there’ll be plenty of Ampersand Coffee, and most importantly, we will have the opportunity to connect with a lot of people who don’t yet know that they are valuable, worthy of love, and already part of what God is doing in the world.
We’ll be launching Ten:10 to our UCC family first, on August 15 and 22. Come check it out, experience it first-hand, and then tell your friends and family (the ones who don’t connect with traditional worship) about it. Invite them to come on August 29 for the official first service. I’m looking forward to this new endeavor as we strive to #movetowardmore
With gratitude and hope,
Russ

Help us help the families of new Horned Frogs move in!
On August 14th and 18th, UCC volunteers will be providing water, a map of campus, and information on UCC to new families as they move their students in! This is a new opportunity and we cannot wait to welcome these students into Fort Worth. We will be located on UCC grounds along Cantey, and aim to be a welcoming group of faces to these students.

The Leading Causes of Life
NEW WORSHIP SERIES | AUGUST 15 - SEPTEMBER 26
We are all familiar with the leading causes of death; cancer, heart disease, stroke, and even accidents. But, what are the leading causes of life? Jesus said that he came ‘that we might have life, and have it to the full’ (John 10:10). Saying “yes” to life in Christ offers us the opportunity to see the assets that create possibility and new ways of flourishing together in this world. In this series we’ll look at some of the factors in living the life that God intends for us – a life filled with vitality, meaning, and wholeness.
