BPL ends our Summer Hours this month. We are closed 

Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day.

We reopen on Tuesday, September 6 and

Sunday hours resume Sunday, September 11.


As always, many of our services are available online even when the building is closed, including library card registrationeBooks and downloads

online learning, and more.

September Programming

in Adult Services

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are all over the news as a way to produce and/or acquire digital art, music, videos, and other collectibles. Are they just a passing trend or a useful way to assign uniqueness to easily reproducible items? Presented by tech tutor Mike Gershbein, owner of VerySmartPeople.

Medicare Solutions Network will be presenting a free educational seminar to get you up to speed on what Medicare covers, what it doesn’t, and your potential out of pocket expenses. We’ll discuss Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, Part D Prescription Plans, and cost saving strategies for the years ahead. Presented by Robin Dawson of Medicare Solutions Network.

The Great Gatsby is considered the Greatest American Novel ever written.

Yet, the story of how The Great Gatsby was written has not been fully told.


This story is one of heartbreak, alcoholism, financial hardship, and one man’s perseverance. Presented by local author William Hazelgrove. Books will be available for purchase and autographed by the author.

The James Webb Space Telescope will fundamentally alter our understanding of black holes, the early Universe, the life cycle of stars, planets, and more. Join us to learn more about this groundbreaking mission as we prepare for the next giant leap forward in astronomy and space exploration.

 Presented by Astroeducator Michelle Nichols.

Learn how to use the library's Makerspace equipment to make a custom pet tag using infusible ink. Computer experience is required.


Registration Limit: 4 patrons max per session, Bloomingdale Public Library card required, ages 12 to adult.

Registration opens September 1 at 9:00 a.m.


For Bloomingdale cardholders ages 12-17, please bring a completed Makerspace waiver filled out by a parent or legal guardian. Adult Bloomingdale cardholders can fill out a waiver at the session.
