There are so many things going on at Bloomingdale Public Library this month!

BPL ends our Summer Hours this month. We are closed 

Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day.

We reopen on Tuesday, September 6 and

Sunday hours resume Sunday, September 11.


As always, many of our services are available online even when the building is closed, including library card registrationeBooks and downloads

online learning, and more.


New Space in Youth Services

The Youth Services department is pleased to offer the new Calming Space! This space was developed to be a comforting place for children and adults in need of a a quiet space in the library. It can be used for the following activities:

  • A private space away from noise for children and families
  • A private area for nursing or pumping
  • A calming environment for a child in need


BPL strives to create diverse, accessible, and inclusive spaces with unique learning opportunities for all children and families who enter.


To use the Calming Space, stop by the Youth Services Desk. The space is available on a first come, first served basis, no advance registrations. This room was generously funded by the estate of Mr. Dominic Froio. 

Register now for our Take It, Make It STEM Kit!

This fun kit contains activities demonstrating a STEM concept. Extended learning and explanation of concepts will be included.

September Preschool Programs

Yoga can calm the mind and help to focus energy and anxiety, even in preschool aged children. This storytime will incorporate breath and movement to stories, songs, and stretches. Be sure to dress comfortably for this storytime.

Meet at the library for a Teddy Bear Parade! When the parade is over, leave your stuffed friend with our staff at the library and pick them up the next day to hear all about the fun they had.

September School Age Programs

Fall Storytimes

Our fall storytime session runs September 12 through October 21. Storytimes are drop-in and limited to the first 20 children. Please see our event calendar for any schedule changes.
