Ongoing Reading Programs

Reading books with your baby can help your child learn to talk, occupy your child, help create a special bond between you and your baby, and encourage creativity. Join our updated Born to Read program and receive a small gift from Bloomingdale Public Library, and learn about the resources the library can provide as you begin your child's journey with reading. For the full Born to Read brochure, click here.

Did you know that reading to your child is one of the most powerful ways to boost their brain power? The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge – all-important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten. Experts recommend children hear at least 1,000 stories before they start to learn to read themselves. Families who read aloud to their children strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary. Start your child’s love of learning today! For the full brochure for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, click here.

As always, check our calendar or the the February/March Almanac to see exciting programming available for all ages! You can also see our programming specifically for children here.
