Community-Drive Charities: Where Passion Meets Impact

able2 volunteers, staff, and supporters

"In every community, you will find grassroots charities and nonprofits working quietly and tirelessly, making life better for those who need it most. One such organization serving the Ottawa region is ABLE2: Support for People with Disabilities, which I am proud to lead. While we do not have the brand recognition or operational budgets of larger foundations, we have the heart that drives change in ways that are personal and deeply meaningful."

ABLE2 Executive Director Heather Lacey reflects on the unique power of grassroots charities like ABLE2, and how you can create meaningful change by being involved. Read more in her latest ED blog here.

Upcoming GROW Sessions

ABLE2 Grow Education Series. Guardians for persons with disabilities: The role of litigation, guardians, the PGT, and guardianship applications. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 6 pm to 7:30 pm est via Zoom. In partnership with the Ottawa Community Foundation

ABLE2 invites you to join us for a panel on guardians and guardianship applications for persons with disabilities.

Date: January 28, 2025 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. EST via Zoom

During litigation, persons with disabilities may require a litigation guardian, or if no litigation guardian is available, the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) may become involved. When advocating for persons with disabilities, litigators need to be aware of when a guardian is required, and how to make that judgment call while maintaining confidence in their relationship with clients.

This free webinar is eligible for 1.0 hour of Substantive CPD Credit with the Law Society of Ontario.
