Special Event with Roselle Public Library

Angela Dominguez Author Visit

Saturday, January 21 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Lake Park West Auditorium

500 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Roselle

The Roselle Public Library will be hosting award-winning author/illustrator Angela Dominguez on Saturday, January 21 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Park High School West Auditorium. There will be a “how to draw” portion of the presentation, and Angela will be available to sign books afterward. Books will be available for sale thanks to assistance from Barnes & Noble.

The Roselle Public Library was the recipient of the Maureen Hayes Author/Illustrator Award, established by the Association of Library Services to Children (a division of the American Library Association) with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing to bring together children and nationally recognized authors/illustrators by funding up to $4,000 for an author/illustrator visit to a library. Additional support for this event was given by Lake Park High School, the Bloomingdale Public Library, the Itasca Community Library, the Bloomingdale-Roselle Kiwanis, and the Roselle Fine Arts Academy.

Would you like a place to display your art? Consider being one of BPL's Artists of the Month!

Each month we display one artist's work in our gallery in the stairwell and Take 5 Zone. Artists interested in displaying their work at the Bloomingdale Public Library can download a copy of the exhibition policies and necessary space request forms here. Completed forms can be sent by email to [email protected] or turned in to the business office during regular business hours.

We're looking for a few volunteers to maintain our Coupon Exchange Program. Our volunteers spend a few hours each week clipping and filing newspaper coupons, which are then available to the public in our magazine reading area. Time needed is dependent on the number of volunteers maintaining the program.

If interested, please contact Jamie Schingoethe at 630-924-2721

or via email at [email protected]

Did you miss a computer class you really wanted to see? Maybe an adult services program? What about learning a craft? Many of our virtual programs are still on our YouTube channel, and new computer classes are added each month. Take a look and catch up on what you've missed!

The Friends of the Bloomingdale Public Library will be holding their first meeting for 2023! The next Friends of the Library meeting is Wednesday, January 26 at 7:00pm in Room C.  If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please contact the Friends at [email protected]

As always, check our calendar or the the December/January almanac to see exciting programming available for all ages!

Wi-Fi Extended throughout Parking Lot

BPL has installed an exterior Wi-Fi antenna to our building so that our Wi-Fi signal now extends throughout our parking lot and Gazebo area. Residents without home Wi-Fi may now use this resource for remote learning, downloading of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. We have designated the back row of our parking lot as the official Drive-Up Wi-Fi location and is signed as such. Please remember to keep up social distancing rules. Remember that this is a parking lot that is still used by the Village of Bloomingdale and others, so observe all safety precautions as normal. Wi-Fi is available 6:00am to 11:45pm every day.
