There are so many things going on at Bloomingdale Public Library this month!


During the month of February donations of Move in Essentials (listed below) will be accepted at the Bloomingdale Village Hall, Library, Fire Department, and Park District (JRC) facilities. Donated items will be provided to Veterans who are exiting homelessness. Only new, store-bought items will be accepted.

We offer free Wi-Fi service throughout the library during open hours and in our parking lot from 6:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. every day. The outdoor Wi-Fi will remain on even on days the library is closed. Connect to the Wi-Fi spots “Library Guest” or “Library Outdoors

Computer Classes

BPL offers a selection of computer classes each month, covering a range of subjects including computing basics, software-specific help, and internet safety. Find them on our calendar here.


Have a computer question or need help with an online account? Make a one hour appointment with our Computer Services staff for one-on-one help with your specific computer problem. Contact Computer Services at 630-924-2766 or to schedule your appointment.

Simple Scan Station

Digitize documents quickly and send them via email, fax (fees apply) or save them to the cloud or to a USB. See instructions by Simple Scan Stations for details.

Computer Lab

The Bloomingdale Public Library offers free access to computers and the Internet. Visitors may use their valid Bloomingdale or SWAN library card or they may request a free Internet use card to access these resources. In addition, the library has laptop checkout available at both reference desks and a portable computer training lab.

Computer Lab Resources:

15 Internet and Microsoft Office 2016 Computers, which includes the following programs:

  • Access - database software
  • Excel - spreadsheet software
  • PowerPoint - computer presentation software
  • Publisher - desktop publishing software
  • Word - word processing software

1 archiving stating station with VHS converter, photo/slide/film scanner, and Adobe Suite

1 microfiche reader (Local History)

2 express stations - 15 min limit

2 Simple Scan Stations

1 typewriter (available upon request)

March Computer Classes

Computer classes are in-person unless otherwise specified. Registration is not required but helpful to plan space and send class updates. Click on the image for class details and registration.

There are a lot of special tools in the Computer Lab that our patrons can use; our newest edition is the ability to convert audio cassette tapes to digital files, perfect for archiving or sharing via email! Save your personal audio cassettes to digital files today - our staff in the BPL Computer Lab can show you how.

Also, if you forget a charging cable, we have them available to borrow for use while at the library. We have iPhone and Android cables, including USB, USB2, and USB3 connectors.
