Weekly News from Zion and our Ministries Under the Cross: Evergreen Academy & Nina's Place

October 30, 2024

Thanks to the overwhelming and expedient generosity of the Zion & Evergreen Academy community, we met our goal of 25 new All Creation Sings hymnals for use in weekly worship. The new hymnals have been ordered and delivered already, and we will dedicate them to the glory of God on Christ the King Sunday (November 24th).

Thank you especially to those who donated so generously.

All Saints Sunday – Sunday, November 3rd

All Saints Sunday is a day where we intentionally remember all those loved ones who have died in the past year, as well as all the generations who have gone before us. If you have a loved one you'd like to remember, plan to join us on this day to light candles in their memory.

Opportunities to "Just Show Up"

Halloween Parade

Join us on Thursday, October 31st at 10:00 a.m. to see our preschool children in their best and most fun (not scary) costumes. They will parade around the courtyard, pose for pictures, and collect more candy than they could ever eat!

Robin, Gail, and Kurt will be there to hand out candy, but we can always use more helpers!

Don't make dinner plans and come as you are! We enjoy delicious food and one another's fellowship. We each pay our own way, but everyone is invited to the table — friends, family members, and neighbors!

All Saints Sunday

Of all three years of the lectionary cycle, this year’s All Saints readings have the most tears. Isaiah and Revelation look forward to the day when God will wipe away all tears; in John’s gospel, Jesus weeps along with Mary and all the gathered mourners before he demonstrates his power over death. On All Saints Day we celebrate the victory won for all the faithful dead, but we grieve for our beloved dead as well, knowing that God honors our tears. We bring our grief to the table and find there a foretaste of Isaiah’s feast to come.

Sunday's bulletin can be found here.
