Greetings!
At the Monday, January 24th City Council meeting, the Council will hear a presentation on and discuss the City’s Updated 10-Year Financial Forecast, which is a critical preview of the City’s financial sustainability challenges into the future, and the foundation for the Vision 2025 & Beyond Financial Sustainability Study currently underway. As part of this discussion, the Council will also hear preliminary information about potential revenue measures in the future that Pacifica voters may need to consider, in addition to the historic expenditure reductions through service and personnel cuts that have occurred in the past to contain costs, and non-tax revenue enhancement strategies the City is pursuing through economic development, in order to afford the future Vision the Pacifica community holds for itself. The Vision 2025 & Beyond study will include extensive community engagement over the next many months, so please lend your voice to the Vision.
Sincerely,
Kevin Woodhouse
City Manager

Draw Your Neighborhood and
Submit Draft Maps for Redistricting
|
|
The second Public Hearing in the redistricting process will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 7:30 PM during the regular City Council meeting held via Zoom to consider the draft district maps. Submit Draft Maps for the City of Pacifica Redistricting Process by February 4.
The City of Pacifica wants your input on the City Council Districts based on 2020 Census data. On December 17, 2018, the City adopted an ordinance establishing a district-based system for the election of members of the Pacifica City Council by five districts. Every ten years after the federal census is complete, district lines must be reviewed and, if necessary, adjusted to keep the boundaries as nearly equal in population as possible, allowing for certain variances due to geography, topography, communities of interest, etc. This process of reviewing the census data and adjusting the district boundary lines is called Redistricting.
The City wants YOUR input on how you would like to draw your district lines. Draw your District Map and provide input on what factors are important to you in defining your neighborhood or community of interest. Submit your suggested map by Friday, February 4 to [email protected] or to the City Clerk at 540 Crespi Drive, Pacifica.
Information and mapping tools are available here.

Pacifica Historical Society Talks "Prohibition"
|
|
Join the Pacifica Historical Society, at 4:00 PM Saturday, January 29th, 2022 for a special Zoom presentation by Carmen Blair, SMCHA. This event is hosted by the Pacifica Historical Society.
The wild Prohibition days of rumrunners, moonshiners, and speakeasies in the area that is today’s Pacifica will be the topic. It was a time when the area was infamous, considered the “wettest” county in the state. Rumrunners landed Canadian whiskey on isolated beaches, moonshiners operated in homes and speakeasies drew clients from San Francisco and beyond.
Carmen Blair, Deputy Director of the San Mateo County History Museum, will share stories from researching the county’s history. Attendance is limited so priority will be given to PHS members.
Register by sending an email to i[email protected] Use Prohibition as the subject. Include your name and email or phone # you’ll use for the lecture.
