UConn Global Health Spaces on Campus invites you to participate in UConn’s fourth Annual Global Health Hackathon: GloHHack 2022! This 24-hour event, which will be held from November 11-12th, invites students from all different majors and backgrounds to come together and create innovative solutions to pressing issues in global health. The theme for this year, Disaster Hack, seeks to explore the ways we can innovate solutions to improve the health of those impacted by extreme climate and natural disasters. We will foster student innovation from across UConn and provide an opportunity for students to challenge themselves and gain a greater understanding of Global Health. Food will be provided throughout the event and cash prizes totaling $1500 will be given to the top three teams!

Teams should consist of 3-5 members; we encourage you to sign up in teams but you can also create a team at the event.

Feel free to email glohsoc@gmail.com or reach out via Instagram @uconn.glohsoc with any questions!

Team Pre-Registration Due by November 4

Register Your Team for the Global Health Hackathon

Get Seeded is open to undergraduate and graduate students across all schools at UConn. It was developed to give students the opportunity to help move their business ideas forward by providing them with seed funding, mentorship, and next step resources.

Here’s how it works:

Interested students can apply to pitch an idea at one of our “Shark Tank style” pitch nights. Selected participants will then pitch their idea for 5 minutes at one of our virtual pitch nights to members of the audience. At the end of the night, the audience votes for their favorite ideas. The top 3 teams of the night will win $1,000, $750 and $500 respectively, in non-dilutive seed funding towards their new business venture or idea! In April, the top five teams from our pitch nights are invited to pitch at Demo Day, where teams can win up to $5,000 in seed funding!

Apply to pitch or RSVP to attend a Get Seeded Pitch Night!

Although Maurice Sendak was not a puppeteer, he understood the nature of puppetry's never-ending fascination with objects, images, movement, music, and text, and how the creation of those combinations with a collaborative team of artists can make puppets come alive. Interim Co-Director will speak with the team from Maurice Sendak Foundation about the current exhibition Swing into Action.

Feel Your Best Self creators Sandy Chafouleas and Emily Wicks and script writers Sarah Nolen and Yanniv Frank talk about the development of this unique interdisciplinary collaboration between UConn's Collaboratory on School and Child Health and Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry to use puppetry to promote emotional well-being in elementary-aged children. The team discusses the challenges and methods used to take wellness strategies, such as "belly breathing" and "shake out the yuck" and turn them into simple, yet engaging stories starring three puppet friends, Nico, Mena, and CJ.
