News You Need To Know
Ashley Carson Cottingham for Marion County Commission and her team would like to host a virtual house party with the Marion County Democrat PCPs to discuss volunteer opportunities, request donations, and share more information about her campaign!

We know how dedicated you all are to making change at the local level, and we need your help to win! Normally, we would need volunteers for door-knocking, but in these unprecedented times we are phone banking, doing lit drops, and sending post cards. Please join us August 26th to meet Ashley and help get her elected to County Commissioner this November! For more information or to RSVP please email Emily at emsorce@gmail.com
If you watched any of the the Democratic National Convention this week you heard many speakers encourage us to make a plan to vote!

The best way to start is to check your voter registration status. Follow the link here and share with your family and friends. When your ballot arrives fill it out immediately, top to bottom, then deliver it to a local election drop box. We'll provide more information on locations in upcoming newsletters.

As Secretary Clinton said, "we can't afford another woulda, shoulda, coulda election." Don't wait! Make your plan today!

A Virtual LGBTQ+ Community Event
Salem Capital Pride is excited to announce our first ever virtual Pride! Our theme is “Celebrate, Protest, Advocate.” For us, these actions show us why Pride matters. In the midst of a global pandemic, movements for racial justice, and economic crisis, Pride is more important today than ever.

This year, we invite you to join us for a virtual Pride event, where we will:

• Celebrate: For many, Pride is a joyous time for exuberant expressions of love, freedom, and acceptance. Pride is a time to express our true selves and identities.
• Protest: The first Pride started as a protest. This moment calls on us to yet again stand up against the injustices that have hurt our communities, especially communities of color. We believe that Black Lives Matter and will always stand in solidarity with our Black and Brown siblings.
• Advocate: Let’s challenge each other to do more to lift up the LGBTQ+ community and stand in solidarity with our BIPOC family, whether through contributions of time, treasure, or talent. We can all do more.
We invite you to join us by submitting a video expressing what LGBTQ+ pride means to you. We hope that our theme of “Celebrate, Protest, Advocate” will serve as a guide when you are considering your submission. Stories, poems, art, songs, drag performances and more are all welcome.
