August 2021 Newsletter
Karen A. Wientjes, PT, DPT, MPH, CWS®
Happy August, everyone! I will keep this one short and sweet, just like the end of summer.

We have heard positive feedback about the new certification management platform, Certemy, that rolled out earlier this year. If you have not already done so, please check it out and be sure to update your information if necessary. It’s the best way to track your CEU’s and keep up to date with your certification needs.

Testing is still open across the country. Please be sure to check the Pearson VUE website for updated guidelines at your local test center. Mask-mandates have been reinstated at some centers, so we are advising all candidates to check requirements before travelling, or to bring a mask with them just in case.

Are you thinking about getting more involved at ABWM? We are currently seeking Subject Matter Experts for a number of volunteer positions. We are in need of CWCA®, CWS®, and CWSP®’s who are interested in writing and reviewing exam questions. In addition, we are also looking for certified individuals, especially newly certified providers, to participate in our upcoming job task analysis. This team informs our exam process to make sure content is relevant and applicable across all areas. More details and an application form can be found in the newsletter below.

If that is more than you are up for, there is always the “Diplomate Spotlight” feature. Sharing your story about why you became certified and how it helped your career or your patients could motivate others contemplating certification. This is something I always like to read when it pops up on social media. Let’s hear more of your stories. I know you’ve got them. Fill in the survey below and share what moves you.

Seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

  • Time Commitment: 3 meetings (1 virtual meeting in October 2021, an in-person meeting in March 2022, and an in-person meeting in September 2022).

Exam Committee
  • SME Qualifications: A CWCA®, CWS®, or CWSP®.
  • Time Commitment: 2 in-person meetings (May 2022 and August 2022). Committee members serve for a two-year term with the option to renew for a second term.

Congratulations to everyone who was recently certified! The ABWM would like to recognize all newly certified Associates and Diplomates who received their CWCA®, CWS®, or CWSP® credentials from June 9th 2021 to August 3rd 2021.
