Psalm 40, a vivid, physical testimony of being heard, seen, helped begins with these words,
I waited patiently for God; and God inclined unto me, and heard my cry;
and becomes a song of praise. The Psalmist praises God’s steadfast love and offers a glimpse of what it is like to be wanted - called. Witnessing to the delight of living in the ways of God’s life-giving law; and wanting to remain in God’s steadfast love and faithfulness the writer echoes Samuel's call, "Here I am".
Being "Called" can happen in many ways. God allows us the opportunity to use who we are and what we offer to the world in the service of God’s love. Receiving God’s call is an extravagant gift of love. By calling us, God says to us, you are seen, you are known, and you are loved.
ARTChurch this month will use this Psalm and the experience of 'call' to reflect on the testimony of Dirkje's work - of her call and journey of being heard, seen, and helped.
