"Dinner Disrupts Division: Let's Eat and Heal"
Dinner Disrupts Division: Let's Eat (and Heal)
In his first letter to the church in Corinth, the apostle Paul sees the conflict, tells the leaders: “We are not amused!” and challenges them to live a 'cross-shaped' life and maintain the unity of the church. The biblical call for the church to live in harmony notwithstanding, the church since its inception has quarreled and fussed. It seems like nothing has changed. Is the unity of the church a pipe dream? Maybe. But the Dinner (Breakfast) Church movement in the church right now gives new hope. What a concept! It’s amazing what people can agree to when they’re eating. Maybe a simple meal can heal division and bad feelings. Let's eat!
Prayer for the Third Sunday After the Epiphany
Inviting God, you promised those in shadows to see a great light when we follow you. We try to live in your house, to do as you ask, to drop our nets and come to you, but it can be hard. Strengthen us as we live into our call. Amen.
