Pursuit 10.20: Dancing In the Rain!!
It's getting closer!! Are you planning on joining us for our fall retreat? We look forward to seeing each of you at a new location, Glen Lake Retreat Center, in Glen Rose, TX. Be assured we will be taking all necessary precautions against this 2020 vision-robber, COVID-19, so please do not let fear stop you. We understand completely if you choose not to join us and realize each person must decide for themselves what is best. We expect the Lord to do great and mighty things over that weekend; He knows our storms and can guide us through.

Here is our pandemic protocol plan for everyone's safety:
  • We will have bottles of hand sanitizers throughout the meeting room and in each sleeping quarters
  • We will have fewer ladies at each table
  • Designated food servers, no self-serve buffets
  • A special barista will be serving you coffee
  • Masks will be available
  • Tables and areas will be sanitized on a regular basis
  •  We will have a means to communicate on your name tag your level of comfort in distancing with others:

  • Green Dot = hugs and hands
  • Yellow Dot = elbows and caution
  • Red Dot = keep your distance, no contact

  • Masks will be up to your discretion. We urge you to wear a mask any time you are mingling with other ladies and be mindful to wear a mask when ladies with Red Dots are in your presence.
  • The meeting room is much larger than the rooms we have had in the past, so we can spread out.
  • The sleeping quarters will have enough space to accommodate our 6’ distancing protocol we are all so use to doing.
  • Most importantly, our retreat is bathed in prayer from all aspects, but particularly against this menacing virus.

You are welcome to join us in prayer and fasting for the retreat. As we always do with Promise Helpers' retreats, we pray and fast for 40 days prior to the weekend, asking the Lord to cover the retreat in all facets. If you would like to participate, just ask the Lord what He would like you to fast from-- eating sugar, drinking coffee, watching television, etc. It does not have to be food related.

You can also be a blessing to Promise Helpers and other ladies who cannot financially afford to attend but would like to. Promise Helpers has many opportunities for you to be blessed and be a blessing by providing full or partial scholarships. Promise Helpers is a 501c non-profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible. If you would like to be a part in changing the lives of ladies, click the "Donation" link and you will be directed to Promise Helpers' PayPal page. Select "Retreats" for scholarship donations.

We pray you can join us. It is always a huge blessing to see you!!

Jonathan Cahn's National Day of Prayer and Repentance Event
Author of The Harbinger and many other bestselling books, Jonathon Cahn, has launched a national and global movement of prayer and repentance culminating in Washington DC on September 26th, 40 days before the presidential election. "America is in deep, deep trouble," Cahn told CBN News. "The Return is a chance for America, 40 days prior to our next election, to turn back to God, just like Nineveh."

The Return is for all believers who love the Lord from all denominations and backgrounds..." The live September 26th event will take place at the National Mall in Washington DC and will be streamed around the world.

"Without revival, there can be no hope, and without repentance there can be no revival. I believe we are standing at a critical moment spiritually, culturally, politically, generationally, and almost every other way. And I believe as we come to September and the autumn months it will become even more critical. If we do not now rise to the call, we may never have the chance to do so again," Cahn said.

The event will be simulcast so everyone can take part. All who believe America is in trouble, that we need to return to God, and that only revival can save us are welcome to be part of The Return. To find out more, go to TheReturn.org

JOY Letters
by Debra Joyce
Dearest Friends!!

Hello! It has been SO long since we’ve talked or seen each other. How are you doing today? I hope this note finds you well and safe. I pray you will have peace and find direction for today.

It seems the months have flown by since the dark clouds of COVID have descended upon our world. Life as we know it came to a halt. Fear and anxiety took its hold on many. Each day the news media paints a bleak future, offering little hope for recovery or a return to “normal” anytime soon. Many have become weary and afraid. Friend, I too, have found myself spiraling into toxic thinking and worrying way too much of the time. A clear deception of the devil to distract me from GOD’s truth.

Take heart my friends! “We do not grieve like the rest of them, who have no hope!” 1 Thessalonians 4:13b. “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, REJOICE.” Philippians 4:4. We can dance in the rain in spite of what we encounter. There is more good news! Jesus says “I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve but your grief will turn to JOY!” John 16:20. He also says “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” John 16:33b

The Father says, “I will give rest to those who are tired. I will satisfy those who are weak.” Jeremiah 31:25. “The Sovereign Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like hinds’ feet (feet of a deer). He enables me to go onto the high places.” Habakkuk 3:19.” Do not grieve, for the JOY of the Lord is your strength” Nehemiah 8:10b
“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and HIS understanding no one can fathom. HE gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall: but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint!” Isaiah 40: 28-31. Dear Friends, when you have a few minutes open your BIBLE to 2 Corinthians 1 and read verses 3-11 where The God of all comfort shares more great hope.

Jesus shared hope prior to his death on the cross. “And I will ask the Father and HE will give you another Comforter to be with you forever-the Spirit of Truth.” John 14:16. “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:26-27 “But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Comforter will not come to you: but if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7

The Father offers us HOPE through Salvation’s blood shed by Jesus on that cross. His abiding presence remains within us through the continuous presence of the Holy Spirit. Renewing my mind with HIS truths has been key to calm during this storm. I have found that immersing myself in the reading of HIS Word throughout the day, memorizing scripture (attempting that is! LOL!), also listening to praise and worship music focus my thoughts. It crowds out the toxic spiraling thoughts. Literally drowning them out! Being still before Him allows Him time to minister to me as I listen for that still small voice. “Be still, and know that I am GOD.” Psalm 46:10. Try this exercise: BE INTENTIONAL: Focus on GOD and clear your mind of any other thoughts. Sit still and quiet, rest in HIM, seeking HIS presence for three minutes. Then listen for one minute. This may take some practice. It did for me. You will find that you want to spend longer and longer periods of time in HIS presence, just being still. What I experience is a deep spiritual freshness, a calming of my heart, spirit and mind, a peacefulness that passes all understanding. Letting Father God lead me to a place of tranquility, I am able to keep on keeping on through all this mess around me. It is a CHOICE we make, every day.

God has inspired the writings of a great love letter to us, The Holy Bible. His words of life, peace, hope, and encouragement, are found within its pages. He expresses His love for us, corrects us, provides guidance for daily living and decisions. Plus, instructions on how to overcome the challenges of everyday life. God tells us clearly how to overcome the enemy and all his demons with precise instructions, equips us with spiritual weapons and powerful scriptures to use as prayers that will send the devil running! “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and HE will come near to you. James 4:7 also read Ephesians 6: 10-18, The Armor of God.

Live a life with an open book and open doors. Open your mind to read and understand the Bible. Open your eyes to see HIS truths. Open your ears to hear HIM as HE ministers to you and listen when HE speaks. Open your mouth to ask of HIM and speak HIS truths out loud in prayer to the world around you. Open your heart to allow HIM to rule and reign. Open your hands to receive from HIM and to serve HIM. Open doors are here with opportunities; choose to walk through them and follow His plans. Do not fear these troubled times. God is here with us. “He knows the plans HE has for us, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7: 7-8. “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3: 22-23. “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15. Choose every day to serve the one true GOD, our Creator.

Dearest Friend, are you coming to the retreat? Be sure to get registered soon! We have many great things planned. The NEW location in Glen Rose, TX is beautiful and spacious. We will have the lights on with the sweet tea and coffee ready. See you October 2-4, 2020…Lord Willing!

Blessings of JOY!!!
