Virtual - Annual Congregational Visioning Meeting
Sanctuary's Discernment Process Begins
The Officers and Leadership Circle of the Congregational Church of West Medford | Sanctuary UCC issue this call to the 2020 Annual Congregational Visioning Meeting (and Process) as defined by our by-laws....
IN WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
I Love Jesus But Hate (Some) Church Leaders
Most every time someone has been hurt by the church (and that has happened – a lot!) it has been because some church “leader” has fallen prey to some form of ego, sex, money, or power. It started at the beginning and has been causing folk to run from the church ever since! In 1 Timothy 3, Paul emphasizes leadership and the well-ordering of the church as the “pillar and buttress of the truth.” So why is it so hard for church folk to be servants that build-up God’s Body and a source of strength for Jesus’ followers?
Prayer for This Sunday:
Most loving and inviting God, you gather us from the four winds, and for each one brought to your 'house' we rejoice. For, from the beginning, you said it isn’t good for us to try to go through life alone, and so at creation you created for us partners to journey together. As Your Body we gather as pilgrims journeying together, sharing our faith, our joys and our concerns. We hold one another up when times are hard and celebrate when times are good. Together, we share a bond, commitment and purpose that unite us and make us stronger. For all these things and many more, we thank you, gracious Redeemer, Healer and Comforter. Amen.
