As a pioneer organization in the use of technology in higher education with enormous expertise and resources, HETS launched the First Edition of its Learning Technologies Leadership Academy (H-LTLA). This new Academy is a professional development program focused on developing the next generation of leaders to serve at HSIs to promote and facilitate the adoption of teaching and learning technologies. Now accepting applications until June 28, this first edition of the H-LTLA will be an online program that enhances the skills and knowledge of professionals at mid-point in their careers as they contemplate future roles as college, university, or school administrators in leading positions. Participants drawn from all divisions of the institution, schools, or related organizations will be selected each year for the Academy (limited spaces)
Individuals whose job is to promote and facilitate the adoption of teaching and learning technologies
- Team building and work towards common goals
- Flexibility and capability to retrace and reorganize when necessary
- Decision Making with consideration and attention to people and context
- Budgetary and General management skills
- Inclusion and organizational culture building
The 2021 virtual HETS Academy will be a combination of synchronous sessions (twice/day for four days) and online/asynchronous readings and discussions.
Each of the eight (8) sessions will include:
Presentations offered by leaders in the higher education community in English or Spanish
Opportunity to network with the participants selected working to promote and facilitate the adoption of teaching and learning technologies, and the Program faculty, who will help fill the gaps in the participant’s expertise and experience.
Post-sessions projects or initiatives to present them at a special track of the 2022 HETS Best Practices Showcase conference.
Each session will be 180 minutes and run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (EST), and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM (EST) on the following dates:

Thursday, August 5th
Friday, August 6th
Applications for the 2021 cohort are due Monday, June 28, 2021, including the following:
- A letter from a president, chancellor, or cabinet-level administrator stating the nominee’s qualifications for the program, leadership strengths, and development opportunities (upload the letter on the application field provided).
A letter describing a project that you will consider implementing at your campus or organization with the name of a Mentor (upload the letter on the application field provided).
A Statement of Purpose addressing the topics requested (no more than 300 words per topic).

HETS Members = $599
Non-Members = $649 (Includes one year individual membership) or $799
The fees include all materials and the continuing education certificate.
HETS will send an invoice to each participant chosen to participate in the 2021 H-LTLA. Registration fees can be cover using the CARES Act funds. Additional savings on early payments and group rates will be available upon request.
