Dear Matthew,

Our thirteenth annual Summer Choral Festival is kicking off this weekend! Over 125 singers will be gathering to prepare a performance of an extraordinary and timely piece: Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace. This contemporary masterpiece blends traditional mass texts with diverse global influences, offering a moving call for peace that resonates deeply in today’s world.

The Armed Man is an extraordinarily powerful work, and our Festival Chorus will be joined in the performance by a 45-piece professional orchestra. It's going to be a tremendous sound.

Also on the festival concert, our select chamber chorus of high school and college scholars will perform gorgeous and powerful music by Jocelyn Hagen, Jake Runestad, Eliza Gilkyson, Ysaÿe Barnwell, and others. We're tremendously proud of Scholars program that provides opportunities for these young singers each summer, and especially proud that our partnership with the VOCES8 Foundation will once again bring us four young professional singers to sing and teach during the course of the week.

The festival concert will take place at the beautiful concert hall at V. Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho on Sunday, July 20 at 3pm. And tickets are now on sale!

In addition to this fantastic concert, we're so pleased that this year's festival will once again feature our Kids' Choir. An intrepid chorus of elementary school children will be giving their own performance, under the direction of the brilliant Louise Loomis. Join us for that free concert on Friday, July 18 at noon at St. John's United Methodist Church!

This is our favorite week of the year. I hope to see you there!

All the best,

Matt
