Celebrating 80 Years: 1946-2026

When I walk into our office each morning in downtown Centralia, I am reminded that I am not just going to work, I am stepping into a legacy that began in 1946. That was the year Dale Nordquist and D.D. Schnatterly opened their law practice in historic downtown Centralia, building what would become one of the longest-standing law firms in Southwest Washington.

What started as Nordquist & Schnatterly has, over generations of dedicated attorneys, grown into Althauser Rayan Abbarno. That history is not just something we celebrate, it is something we carry forward every day.

Important Changes to Workers' Comp

At Althauser Rayan Abbarno, we help injured workers across Washington State to navigate the complex workers' compensation system. A new law, SB 5847 brings important changes that improve access to care, strengthen worker rights, and increase accountability in the system.

SB 5847 updates Washington’s workers’ compensation laws under the Industrial Insurance Act. The law focuses on:

  • Protecting your right to choose your doctor
  • Expanding access to medical treatment
  • Reducing delays in care approvals
  • Improving claims management efficiency
  • Strengthening enforcement against employer misconduct

These changes are designed to put injured workers first.

Volunteering and Packing Backpacks: All Kids Win!

Althauser Rayan Abbarno attorneys and staff recently volunteered and supported All Kids Win in Thurston County.

All Kids Win is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Thurston County that provides weekend food bags to North Thurston, Tumwater, and Olympia; K–8 students at Wa He Lut Indian School; and K–12 students in Tenino, Rainier, Yelm, and Rochester.

Althauser Rayan Abbarno, LLP law partner Todd Rayan and Peter Abbarno attended the Washington State Association for Justice workers' compensation and insurance conference in Seattle.

Abbarno joined State Rep. Liz Berry to give a legislative update. WSAJ's mission is to stand up in the courtroom and the halls of government for real people. "We defend your Constitutional rights, including the right to have your day in court. We hold corporate and other powerful interests accountable.
