We're Going Virtual!

Over these past few weeks, we have been inspired by the creativity and compassion of our community banding together while remaining physically apart. Our tutors, teachers, and staff have been working hard to ensure a smooth transition to distance learning for all of our 600+ adult learners.

To ensure the health and well-being of everyone, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person Scrabble Tournament, which had been scheduled for May 2. But don't worry! With our virtual fundraiser, you will still be able to support our mission of helping people thrive, and you may even play some word games while you're at it.
Here are three ways you can participate:
1. Place Bids in our Online Auction
We have a variety of baskets and other items you won't want to miss! Save the dates for our online auction opening on May 3 and closing at 6 pm on May 9. Some items from local Worcester businesses include:

  • 2 tickets to the Hanover Theatre
  • 4 bottles of wine from Sail to Trail WineWorks
  • a 4-pack of box seat tickets to the Worcester Bravehearts

2. Join the Word Game Photo Challenge
Be the winner of a game night prize basket by entering our Word Game Photo Challenge promotion from May 3 to May 9!

How to participate:
  1. Play your favorite word game at home. Examples include Scrabble, Bananagrams, a crossword puzzle, word game apps like Words with Friends, Scrabble Go, and Wordscapes. Use whatever you have!
  2. Take a picture of you playing the game or a screenshot if using an app.
  3. Post the picture in our Facebook event. You can post one picture each day. One post = one entry into the drawing
  4. For an additional entry, share our Facebook event with your friends.
  5. Don't have Facebook? That's okay. Email us your picture and we'll post it for you!

On May 9, we will draw a winner and make an announcement along with the winners of the silent auction items.
3. Contribute to our Spring into Literacy Campaign
Support adult learners as they develop the language skills that are more crucial now than ever before as they navigate this challenging period.

Although we will not be together in person, we'll be together in spirit as we aim to raise $8,000 for adult literacy this spring.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support of our mission. Stay well.
