It's that time again: "Friends at Home" returns this September with an all new feature!

In this issue, we're taking the time to focus on a group of exemplary Direct Support Professionals participating in our In-Home Support Services program. As you may very well know, our DSPs are our most treasured asset, and we wanted to ask them what they love about their job and what keeps them working in this field.

Below is a message from our Adult In-Home Supports Supervisor, Kennard Willis. Kennard acts as our first line of support for our Direct Support Professionals, making sure they receive the guidance they need in order to succeed in their roles as caregivers. Here's what he had to say about his time working for Friends of Cyrus and the DSPs in his program:

"Working at Friends Of Cyrus has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. Coming from a background in Nursing and growing up with a close family member who was diagnosed with Autism at a very early age has helped me see the difference our staff members make in the lives of the clients we serve. My main motivation for working in this field is that I like to assist people. I am presently working at two agencies, one of them being Friends of Cyrus. FoC is a good company that takes care of the individuals' needs because they give the best training on how to take care of the individuals we serve, including proper medication training."

Friends of Cyrus is a Human Services agency that provides community-based residential programs, in-home support services, and day habilitation services to New Jersey’s developmentally disabled adults. Since its inception, Friends of Cyrus has operated with an unwavering mission in mind: to create a haven of lifetime support options for individuals with disabilities. Friends of Cyrus currently supports over 120 adults throughout Burlington and Middlesex Counties with a focus on fostering independence, dignity, privacy, choice, and individuality.

Friends of Cyrus was founded in 2013 by Kamelia Kameli, a veteran in the healthcare industry and the parent of an adult son with autism, and Daren Singhani, the former CEO of a healthcare staffing company. Kameli’s son, Cyrus, was diagnosed with Autism at an early age and inspired the founding of the agency.
