Hannaford Helps

We are excited to announce that the Friends of Five Rivers has been selected to be a part of the "Hannaford Helps " Reusable Bag Program again this spring. The program is designed to create revenue streams for local nonprofits like us. For every blue Good Karma "Hannaford Helps " Reusable Bag bought in support of our cause at the Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY store during the month of April 2017, a $1 is donated to our cause in order to help us fulfill our mission.

In order for us to maximize this opportunity, it's important that our supporters are aware of this unique chance to support Friends of Five Rivers! Please pass this exciting news on to your friends and family. Remember, the more of these "Hannaford Helps " Reusable Bags that are purchased and used, the more you help save the environment and support the Friends at the same time.

Thank you so much for your continued support of the Friends of Five Rivers.

New Summer Evening Programs for Families

The Friends of Five Rivers is offering two summer evening programs for families. The aim of these programs is to help parents and children grow in their understanding and appreciation of the natural world through shared activities.

Summer Evenings Together 1: BIRDS AND BIRD-WATCHING
One Session, limited to 10 families, meeting July 18, 20, 25 & 27
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, rain or shine

You can observe a lot just by watching. And if you watch carefully, birds will tell you who they are, where they live, how they live and what you can do to help conserve them. Daily field observations will be supplemented by hands-on activities such as making bird houses, bird feeders, keeping a field checklist, and more. Main topics will include bird anatomy; bird flight and migration; food and foraging; eggs, nests and breeding behavior; and conservation. Savvy tips on things you can do at home to help conserve birds will provided.
