"Beyond the Myth" Screening

Thursday, October 25th, 7:15 p.m.
The Oriental Theatre, 2230 N. Farwell Ave., Milwaukee
Join Friends of MADACC for a screening of "Beyond the Myth," a film about dog breeds commonly referred to as "pit bulls" and those who love these breeds. Viewers are taken on a journey to four U.S. cities where Breed Specific Legislation focusing on "pit bulls" has profoundly impacted people and animals: Denver, Miami, Cincinnati, and San Francisco. The documentary intelligently explores the contributing factors behind the public's generalized fear of "pit bulls," and examines the conflict existing between advocates and opponents of breed discriminatory laws, commonly referred to as breed bans. It investigates the myths associated with these breeds, challenges the idea that they are inherently vicious, and presents eye-opening research regarding the media's role in influencing people's opinion on dog attacks.

Tickets to the screening are $10 and available ONLINE ONLY, IN ADVANCE at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/269860. You can choose to have a physical ticket mailed to you or have your ticket held at Will Call the night of the screening. For Will Call ticket pickup, please bring a photo ID to the screening that matches the name on your order.

Foster Feature - Patty Wagner

Eeyore & Gretel

How did you first get involved with MADACC?

Unfortunately, about four years ago one of my cats got loose, and I came to MADACC to look for him. I toured the cat wards and was saddened to see so many homeless cats and kittens that had ended up there. I was devastated that I never did find my lost cat. I eventually adopted another cat from MADACC, "Bear," and ended up taking home a litter of homeless kittens to foster that same day.
