President's Message

On behalf of the Friends of the Rockwall County Library, it was my honor to welcome everyone to our very first luncheon of the year. What a joy it was to see so many familiar faces, along with new friends, gathered together in support of our library.

This year, we are excited to introduce our new theme: “A New Chapter Begins.” The phrase is both a celebration and a challenge, reminding us that each year brings fresh opportunities to grow, to serve, and to make a meaningful impact together.

We are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding library in our community. The programming this past summer was remarkable and continues to highlight why the Friends’ support matters so deeply.

Between May and July 2025, the Rockwall County Library welcomed 46,017 patron visits, added 1,169 new patrons, and saw more than 83,762 items checked out. The Book Alcove also had a successful summer, raising $3,947.55 from June through August through the sale of fiction books alone.

As we look ahead, we encourage everyone to complete the library survey. Your feedback is a valuable tool that helps guide future programs and services, ensuring that our library continues to meet the needs of the community. JOIN us at our meetings and events or simply through membership.

Together, let’s make this “new chapter” one of the best yet!

Thank you,

Lesli Y. Johnson

2025-2026 President

The Program provides classes for GED preparation, English as a Second Language, Citizenship, and basic literacy. Classes take place six days a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with the strong support of our community partner, First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

Book Alcove

The Book Alcove is accepting book donations every day the Library is open.

Suggested donations are collected and used for library programs. The selection is ever changing, come take a look and bring some books to donate too.

FICTION TITLES ARE ALWAYS IN DEMAND!

*Books should be in GOOD condition.

Friends of the Library is proud to partner with Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County to offer homebound clients books through the Book Alcove. Lynn Fate manages this program and carefully selects books per genre or title requests. They are delivered each month with meal delivery for the residents to keep for their personal libraries or recycle back to the Book Alcove. The sustainability of this program relies on your book donations. Keep this in mind as you clean out your collections. Fiction titles and large print books are always in demand.
