Friends of the Ramona Library (FORL) Newsletter

October 2022

President's Message

Have you noticed visitors to the library taking pictures of the inside and the outside? They’re making sure that designs for a future Ramona Community Resource Center are compatible with the library building. According to the Ramona Sentinel, the Center will be between 12th and 13th Streets. The project is still in the planning stages with groundbreaking set for April 2023 and completion in summer 2024. Personally, I’m hoping that the planners will consider traffic on Main Street and make necessary adjustments!

Authors’ Day will take place on Saturday, January 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Our keynote speaker will be Angie Brenner who has written a book entitled, Seeking Beauty: Jim’s Gift: A book about James Hubbell. James Hubbell’s stained glass artwork in the Library lobby is titled “Laurel Passage,” and was commissioned by Friends of the Ramona Library. This fall, the FORL will be soliciting local authors to be part of this event. SAVE THE DATE!

Many thanks to the Ramona Journal  for sharing the FORL story in their latest issue! Charlene Pulsonetti did a great job of sharing my thoughts!

As of June 1, 2022, the Open Bookstore hours are:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Saturday: 10:30 – 3:30 PM

Tuesday: 12:00 – 4:00 PM

Sunday: Closed

Sincerely,

Maxine McNamara
