In fall 2020, Friendship Academy of the Arts will expand to a second site and become a K-8 school. Our current site will house 100 scholars in grades K-1. The second site, located just down the street at 3320 41st Street South, will grow over the next two years to house 350 scholars in grades 2-8.
We are looking forward to teaching more children in the years to come! To enroll those of your children who are going into grades K-8 for fall 2020, visit

Note from the Leadership Desk

My name is Miss Verlon or Miss V; I work in the office here at Friendship Academy.
My official title at Friendship Academy is: MARSS (Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System) Coordinator/Office Support. My primary role is to provide required student data to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) in order to obtain state aid. My responsibilities include reporting attendance, free and reduced meal status, immunizations, transportation, and SPED service hours to MDE throughout the school year. I also maintain and update student records, create a database for new incoming students, and prepare outgoing student transcripts.
Other responsibilities that fall under my umbrella include Transportation Manager, Food Service Manager and Purchasing Manager
.
I work closely with our transportation vendor, food & snack vendors and the Business Manager to help ensure the best quality, efficient and affordable service.
Last but not least, I am on the Student Success Team here at FAA, as I'm very passionate about scholars getting an education.
Education boosts confidence, new knowledge, and preparation for the future. Therefore, it is so important for scholars to be at school every day, on time, and held accountable to be ready to learn.

"The art club is when you show your talent of art, and all of middle school are able to be there or join. The time of the art is after lunch until 1:20 and the days are Monday and Wednesday. The club is run by Amiya, Lanaiya, and Mia in 5th grade. We give people stuff if they behave, or if they need help we help them in getting better at art. We do coloring sheets, painting, and drawing."

Family Night: "What Happens at Home Stays at Home (No, It Doesn't!)" and Expansion Open Forum
This month, we would like to bring your attention to our upcoming Family Night, next Tuesday, February 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
This event will feature a discussion with our school counselor, Chauncey Courtney, on the causes and effects of childhood trauma, and what families can do to prevent it. Dr. Charvez Russell, our Executive Director, will also host an Expansion Open Forum in which he can learn more about what families want from our upcoming expansion.
As usual, Family Night will feature refreshments, important updates, and a prize raffle.
You can call the main office at 612-879-6703 to RSVP. Please let us know how many people you will be bringing with you, and if you would like us to hold your children in tender care after school until you arrive at the meeting. We look forward to seeing you!
