Dear FAA Family,
This week, we begin the second round of NWEA MAP testing. The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measure of Academic Performance (MAP) tests are administered three times per year to assess our scholars' current level of academic performance. These tests also serve as a precursor to how they might perform on the state MCAs (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments).
Because these tests are important, we encourage parents to ensure their scholars get plenty of rest by going to bed early. Being well-rested will help them feel mentally prepared to tackle the test.
Last Thursday night, in collaboration with Heart and Soul Drumming, we hosted The Art of Movement: Funga Alafia Performance Seminar at the Intermediate Site. Our FAA Heart and Soul drummers and dancers gave outstanding performances and truly rocked the house! (See pictures below.) They were led by guest performers Ms. Artie Thompson and Bro. Asil (Joshua Gillespies).
Special thanks to Bubba Jesse Buckner and Yaya Beneta Buckner for organizing this amazing program. The administration and staff of FAA are forever grateful for your dedication to our scholars and families.
Lastly, a quick reminder: our Popcorn Fundraiser is still ongoing! The deadline has been extended to January 31st. Please see the flyer below for more details.
Warm regards,
Carr S. Kpanyor, Jr
Interim Executive Director
