Dear FAA Family,
Our leadership focus this month is Habit 6: Synergize. This habit emphasizes valuing and celebrating differences. Last Friday, during our assembly, we recognized scholars recommended by their teachers for demonstrating excellent listening skills and modeling Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood throughout January (see photos below).
This month, in addition to celebrating Black History and the valuable contributions of African Americans to the United States and the world, we are excited to launch our Annual Read-A-Thon. The Read-A-Thon aims to inspire scholars to develop a love for reading. As mentioned in the letter sent home last week, each scholar will bring home a reading log to track their nightly reading. Parents are encouraged to sign the log to ensure scholars receive credit for their recorded reading time. Throughout the month, we will also welcome community members to read to our scholars.
Mark your calendars! February 10, 2025, is National African American Parent Involvement Day. We warmly invite all parents to volunteer in their scholar's classroom on this special day. This is also a wonderful opportunity to read to your scholar's class or even the entire school.
Parents are especially encouraged to join us in the morning for a special assembly, where we will preview performances from our Wax Museum exhibit, giving everyone a sneak peek before the full showcase on February 27th.
Look forward to seeing you on February 10, 2025.
Finally, our World's Finest Chocolate sale has begun. Each bar cost $2.00 and a box cost $60.00. Please support our chocolate sale. Bars will be sold to scholars at the end of the day.
Yours,
Carr S. Kpanyor, Jr
Interim Executive Director
