Greetings!

On the same week as many of our students went back to school, the Texas Education Agency released the 2019 Accountability Ratings for districts and campuses across the state. The Frisco ISD once again received an "A" rating from the state and is the highest-achieving school district in the state with more than 50,000 students . This is the first year that the Agency calculated letter grades for individual campuses and 85% of the district's campuses also received an "A" rating . Frisco ISD announcement this week that they will be developing a community-based accountability system .

"Test scores are just one measure of student achievement. While we are proud of all that our students and teachers have accomplished, it’s impossible to summarize in a letter grade. That’s why our district is partnering with the community to develop a more comprehensive accountability system that speaks to a broader range of learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. We know the true effectiveness of our schools will be measured by our ability to develop students who can innovate, persevere and contribute to the changing world around them. We look forward to sharing more information about the way this system will drive meaningful change and improvement within our school system," said Dr. Mike Waldrip, Superintendent of Frisco ISD

On September 1, 2019, many new state laws passed by the Texas Legislature during the spring will become effective .

I will continue to write more about some of the notable new laws as we approach the effective date.

Finally, this week I have been putting together the governmental affairs events schedule for the upcoming year. I will have a few announcements in the coming days on that front. One aspect of the plan is to have listening sessions with elected officials and round-tables to develop our legislative agenda for the next two years. If you haven't yet, please let me know if you would like to participate in these discussions by clicking here .

As always, thank you for your partnership.

An Important Message From Frisco ISD
Business Community,

It has come to our attention, as in years past, that third-party, for-profit companies are out there falsely representing Frisco ISD by soliciting sponsorship opportunities from the business community for Frisco ISD and our campuses. Frisco ISD highly recommends that you take down their name and phone number before proceeding with any conversation or agreement. Please send their name and number to Frisco ISD's Community Relations Department at yarnikm@friscoisd.org to verify the legitimacy.

Please note, there are some legitimate companies out there working with our high school booster clubs and organizations, but we still recommend you check with us before proceeding with any conversation or agreement.

We know that this has already occurred to some businesses, and while we try our best to stop them from these such practices, we feel we are better serving our business community by alerting you of the possible scams.

Thank you,
