Happy New Year! In late December, we received
an email from the Hayward Promise Neighborhood (HPN) leadership team: "Hello HPN Implementation Team," it read, "I wanted to let you know that today we received the official document and notice indicating that we have been awarded the South Hayward Promise Neighborhood Award by the U.S. Department of Education...We would not have achieved this opportunity without the work of all of our collaborative partners as well as our awesome community members." Out of all of the communities throughout the United States that applied, HPN was one of four awardees for the five-year cycle beginning in 2018. As a founding partner and leader of the Early Learning Network (ELN) - focusing on the "cradle" aspect of the "Cradle to Career" initiative - 4Cs was thrilled to hear the news that our work with HPN would continue and expand. The new funding, to be used to serve south Hayward families, will allow us to renew our ELN work and uplift families with little ones furthest from opportunity. In partnership with all of the HPN partners, we look forward to a new year with new, expanded opportunities to help Alameda County children and families thrive!

4Cs of Alameda County Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance (VITA) Site opens on February 1, 2018. Stop by our main Hayward office (no appointment needed) on Thursday evenings from 5pm-8:30pm and our VITA site staff and volunteers will be happy to help you prepare and file your taxes for FREE. Be sure to read about some new changes in required documents to bring with you on VITA night here before you come in. Our tax preparers are trained and certified by the IRS and have been preparing taxes for 5 to 15 years. If Thursday night doesn't work for your busy schedule, we have a Drop-Off Tax Service Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm and Fridays from 9am to 12pm. Bring in your tax documents and identification, we will prepare your taxes ready to be e-filed free by 4Cs in 5 business days. 4Cs of Alameda County's VITA site has been serving the Alameda County community for 15 years and can prepare and e-file your taxes for free!
