TORONTO, ON – October 21, 2026 – Red Brick Songs is celebrating its 25th anniversary, marking the evolution of a company founded in Canada into an independent music publisher with global reach.
Established in September 2001 by Jennifer Mitchell, with Casablanca Media Publishing as its predecessor, Red Brick Songs has grown by staying close to the people at the heart of the business: songwriters, independent publishing partners, industry colleagues and associations. Its boutique model combines rights administration, creative and career development, song placement, licensing and a worldwide network of international collectives and carefully selected sub publishers.
Over the past quarter century, the company has expanded its international reach, built a roster of more than 700 songwriters and 100,000 works, and become the representative for an exceptional range of publishers and catalogues. Its growth has included the acquisition of Modern Works Music Publishing in 2023 and the administration portion of Music Asset Management in 2024, extending Red Brick Songs’ reach and adding a rich body of work across popular music, jazz, classical and world music, as well as film and television.
The Red Brick Songs catalogue includes works associated with Bootsy Collins, Toni Braxton, Alison Krauss, Bobby Troup, Paula Cole and Ian Tyson, and composers Theodore Shapiro, Charlie Clouser, Terence Blanchard and Gabriella Smith. It also encompasses songs including “From a Distance,” “Rockit,” “93 ‘Til Infinity,” “I Wish” and “Weapon of Choice,” along with celebrated jazz standards such as “Moanin’” and “Joy Spring.”
Red Brick Songs also represents prominent music publishers and rights holders internationally, including the Alan Lomax estate and Bunim Murray’s Lock Cut 9 catalogue. For specific territories, its represented catalogues include works connected with the estate of John Lennon, Steve Miller, the estate of Roy Orbison, Bill Withers and Aretha Franklin.
As the industry has consolidated, Red Brick Songs has remained deliberately personal. The company has built its business through sustainable growth, trusted relationships and collaboration, with a team that understands that no two songwriters, catalogues or careers require exactly the same approach.

“We have always believed that growth and personal service can live in the same company,” says Jennifer Mitchell, Founder and CEO of Red Brick Songs. “Our job is to create opportunity, protect the value of the songs entrusted to us and be the kind of partner who is still there for the long term. Twenty five years later, that remains the foundation of everything we do.”
Mitchell, who began her career as an entertainment and corporate lawyer, is Chair of the Board of Music Publishers Canada, Vice Chair of the Board of SOCAN, and a Board Member of the Independent Music Publishers International Forum and independent mechanical rights collective IMPEL. Her leadership reflects the collaborative philosophy she has brought to Red Brick Songs, along with a conviction that independent publishers can compete globally while remaining responsive to the individual needs of songwriters and catalogue owners.

“We know our writers, we understand their goals and we stay engaged,” says Jana Cleland, President of Red Brick Songs. “That closeness allows us to create the right introductions, collaborations and opportunities while protecting each writer’s creative integrity.”
The anniversary will be marked through a series of industry conversations about independent publishing, songwriter development, global rights administration and the role of lasting relationships in building sustainable careers.
For Red Brick Songs, the milestone is less a look back than a statement of intent: to keep building a global company that thinks independently, acts collaboratively and gives songs and songwriters the attention they deserve.
