TASC Gives Back at

Asm. Gabriel's Day Of Service

Andy (far right) represented TASC at our info booth, sharing our mission and connecting with community members throughout the Day of Service.

TASC staff rolled up their sleeves at Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel’s Day of Service on May 4, joining over 1,000 volunteers across the community. Our team helped assemble outreach kits with LA Family Housing, created no-sew blankets for domestic violence survivors in partnership with Haven Hills, and even donated blood to support local hospitals.

We also hosted an info booth to share more about TASC’s mission and connect with other organizations. It was a meaningful day of service, community, and connection. We were so proud to stand alongside our neighbors and be part of a day dedicated to giving back.

Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel kicks off the Day of Service with opening remarks, thanking the more than 1,000 volunteers for coming together to support local causes.

Medicaid Is at Risk!

Take Action Now for the I/DD Community

During the last recession, deep cuts to California’s disability services left lasting damage. Programs shut down, waiting lists grew, and poverty wages drove support staff out of the field. Individuals with disabilities and their families were left with fewer options and less stability.

Today, we’re facing a similar threat. Proposed funding for disability services in California has already been revised downward, before recent improvements even had a chance to take effect. At the same time, looming federal cuts to Medicaid would only make things worse, putting essential services at risk for thousands across the state.

This Friday, May 16, the House Budget Committee will begin reviewing a federal budget proposal that may include harmful Medicaid reductions. Five California Representatives serve on that committee and need to hear from us.

We’re urging all supporters to take action now! Call and email your Representative by clicking the link below and tell them to vote against any reductions to the Medicaid budget.

The Lanterman Act affirms the right of every Californian with a developmental disability to the services they need to live with dignity and independence. We must hold our leaders accountable to that promise. Let’s make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo at TASC

Our Cinco de Mayo celebration was filled with festive music, vibrant colors, and joyful connection! Clients and staff came together to enjoy a special performance by a mariachi band, delicious food, and plenty of dancing and smiles.

While Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla, it's also a time to celebrate Mexican culture, music, and traditions. We were proud to bring that spirit to life at TASC and share in the joy of the day together. Enjoy a few snapshots from the celebration below!
