CBS 12 INTERVIEWS PLACE OF HOPE
How Place of Hope is aiding our most vulnerable population.
In a CBS 12 interview, Place of Hope Founding CEO reports, “The youth we are seeing are part of the state’s effort to remove children from these homes due to imminent danger. They are attempting to place them with relatives, and many of these relatives are serving as the children’s primary caregivers overnight and need items that they may not have needed before. Items such as diapers, car seats, pack and plays (cribs), pajamas, new or slightly used teen clothing, and non-perishable food are currently needed."

Did you know?
Stability and predictability are important characteristics of any childhood. Unfortunately, they are things many children in foster care do not have, making them far more likely to change schools during the school year, be in special education classes, and less likely to receive passing grades than their peers.

  • Youth who have experienced violence, abuse, neglect, homelessness, exploitation or are in foster care live for survival unable to focus on school.
  • Children and youth in foster care statistically are two grade levels behind their peers not in foster care.
  • Less than 50% of children and youth in foster care will graduate.
  • High school dropout rates are three times higher for foster youth than other low income children.
  • Only about 2% will go on to post-secondary education.
  • Upwards of 60% of youth who age out of foster care with no support or plan will be incarcerated or pregnant within 12-18 months of turning 18 years old.

Place of Hope's youth are shattering statistics with every child in our care in our campus based family cottages, eligible for graduation, has graduated or is on track to do so! Additionally, every youth is continuing to post-secondary schooling, a trade or vocational education!

This only possible because of Gods provision and your support! We are so grateful to everyone who gives of their time, talents and resources to love on and support these amazing youth!

Thank you to the Kazma Education & Enrichment Fund for providing scholarship opportunities for our youth. From our CEO, Charles L. Bender, III
"Recently, we received into our care, three beautiful siblings at Place of Hope. They literally came with nothing, as they had to be removed quickly and placed with us. Their mother was unable to adequately protect and care for them. Their traumas are unspeakable, and their resulting needs are great, but they love one another and are well bonded. And now they are safe with us. Individually they enjoy swimming, soccer, playgrounds, pizza, playing outside and tag with friends. The adjustment period will be tough, as it always is.

Similarly, just weeks ago, we received a large sibling group of four, who also came with nothing. We were able to keep the girls together and placed them on our KidSanctuary Campus. What a blessing to be able to meet their needs immediately. We are honored and blessed to be able to take them all into our care during this tumultuous time in their young lives.

Thank you for making it possible to have a Place of Hope for so many in desperate need. We are grateful for the many campus locations, cottages, apartments, programs, and support efforts we have available, thanks to God and our amazing investors and supporters over the years and today!"

"There’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. When we work together on a common goal, we can achieve things beyond our greatest imagination. 'Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much..' I am honored to be part of Place of Hope and its life changing mission to provide stable and loving environments for hurting children, youth and families. There is nothing more fulfilling than when you know you are living out part of God’s plan and purpose for your life."

SUMMER CAMPS AND FAMILY VACATIONS!
This is the time of year that our cottages, maternity home, Seven Stars, and other programs gear up for summer camps, activities, outings, and the very special family summer vacations!

Recently, one of our youth had the opportunity to meet five college football coaches, tour their schools and participate in their college football training camps. All we can say is, "Watch out College Game Day and NFL, we have a rising star with fast feet and big dreams!" Upon his return to Florida, he attended a football showcase locally where he was able to perform in front of some college coaches and compete against his peers. His athleticism shined above the others completing a 40 yard dash in 4.8. His times in most of the skill areas beat out the other competitors. Several coaches extended their contact information to keep in touch! We are excited to see him continue to train and grow into an outstanding and gifted young man.

Thank you also for making this possible each year. This is a big part of what makes Place of Hope so special and unique! Stay tuned to hear about how all our kids are spending their summer!
