From My Desk to Your Inbox
January brings the beginning of a new year, full of anticipation of great things to come. It’s important to recognize all the city’s accomplishments from last year starting with the construction of the Aquatic and Community Center. It is phenomenal to see the project coming to life on Marsol Road. Read about the latest project updates below.
Another major accomplishment last year was the repair and/or reconstruction of ten roads. Four intersections were rebuilt to accommodate ADA-compliant curb ramps, pavement markings, and pedestrian signal equipment. Look for more road and other infrastructure projects this year.
In addition to the key projects mentioned, the city continues to provide high-quality services to residents with professional, skilled, and dedicated employees. I'm proud to announce that one of those employees has taken on a new position in my office as IT Manager. Nick Police began his career in the Service Department while still in high school. He continued his education, earned a degree in electronics engineering, and recently was promoted to IT Manager after assisting with related functions throughout the past year. The constant advances in technology call for a professionally trained onsite IT Manager and Nick is certain to be an asset in this capacity.
As I look ahead to this exciting year, it is my hope for all residents that 2023 is filled with opportunity and celebration for the new amenities and projects being developed in this vibrant city.
Happy New Year!

Economic Development
It has been a busy year in the city, with twenty-two new businesses opening, two businesses relocating, and one business building a new facility opening later this year. Below is the list of businesses that now call Mayfield Heights home. The underlined businesses have links to their websites to learn more about them. We continue to see new businesses emerge in our city, a sign of vitality and growth. Shopping locally and patronizing small businesses is essential to their sustainability. We welcome the following businesses to our city!

Human Resources
A new position of IT Manager was established in our Salary Ordinance to address the constant advances in technology. The position was advertised internally and externally. The qualifications sought were an Associate Degree in computer science, electronics engineering, information technology, or a closely related field and at least one year of relevant experience in a technical or help desk support/service environment preferably in a government setting. The sole applicant with experience in a government setting was Nick Police.
Nick has demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to the City of Mayfield Heights throughout his years of service. He possesses knowledge, skills, and abilities in the field and a degree in electronics engineering. What also sets him apart is his familiarity and experience in working on our systems during this past year. We are certain that he will continue to serve the City and our community in a capable and professional manner.
Congratulations to Nick! We extend our best wishes for continued success.

Your Generosity Made a Real Difference
To all the individuals and businesses who made giving the “Season of Giving” program a part of your holiday tradition in 2022, thank you!
For over 30 years, the city of Mayfield Heights has hosted the Needy Family Program, now the Season of Giving, where those less fortunate in our community have received food and gift baskets just before Christmas. This year the Season of Giving Program made the holiday season a little merrier for 53 families, including 100 children, in the Mayfield area. We could not have accomplished this without the caring people of this community. These families were truly overwhelmed by your gratitude!
