Outdoor Performance

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights
Deviously delicious sci-fi smash hit musical Little Shop of Horrors has devoured audience’s hearts for decades. During a solar eclipse, shy, love-struck floral assistant Seymour discovers a strange and unusual plant he names “Audrey II”- after his co-worker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-wailing carnivore plant promises the lonely florist fame, fortune, and escape from life on skid row with the girl of his dreams, as long as he keeps supplying the menace with its fix: a steady supply of blood. Suddenly, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s alien origins and quest for world domination. Little Shop of Horrors is a charming, quirky, tongue-in-cheek comedy from the creative geniuses Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin).

Little Shop of Horrors will be hosted under a tent at Evergreen and Eastman located a few blocks north of Metropolis across Northwest Highway.

This production contains material and subject matter that may be sensitive for some audiences – viewer discretion advised.

Audio Play

Chicago Shakespeare Theater

On-Demand through May 16

Ticket Price: $25
A new audio play with original music and immersive 360° sound. Taking inspiration from the immortal line “If music be the food of love play on!,” Artistic Director Barbara Gaines reimagines Shakespeare’s lyrical romance with all-new songs from composer Joriah Kwamé. Mismatched lovers and a steward decked out in yellow stockings navigate the slippery shores of Illyria in search of their very own happy endings. Separated in a sea storm from her brother Sebastian and washed ashore, Viola adopts a male disguise and enters the service of Duke Orsino—only to find herself in the middle of a complex triangle of unrequited love.

Writers Theatre

On-Demand through May 30

When a young Russian tennis phenom and an American superstar in his prime meet at center court, it’s a tough call whether the greatest drama is playing out off the court or on! As the swift action volleys between prime time tennis matches and the most pivotal moments in the personal lives of the competitors and their equally driven romantic partners, sharp and insightful playwright Anna Ziegler (Photograph 51) draws you inside the minds of all four as they face challenges in sport, life and love. What results is a fast-paced and moving montage exploring family, the sacrifices we make for success and the legacy we leave behind.

Please be advised: The Last Match includes the use of strong language and the topic of infertility/miscarriage.

You will have 7 days after you click ‘WATCH NOW’ on your viewing page to finish watching the production.
Live Digital Performance

American Blues Theater

Our physical, social network – or “bubble” – isn’t a new concept, but it certainly has been more relentless lately. Inspired by the idea of being inside the bubble – comedian, storyteller, and award-winning American Blues Ensemble Member Philip Earl Johnson turns to stories about the original bubble: family. Whether it’s with the family we came from of the one we helped create, life in the bubble is filled with certain moments of adaptation. And that’s when it gets ridiculous.

Join American Blues for a powerful, live reading via Zoom. The reading runs about 60 minutes with no intermission. Following the reading, stay in the virtual space for a group discussion.

Goodman Artistic Director Robert Falls directs Adam Rapp’s “sublime, gripping mystery” (The New York Times Critic’s Pick) in its first live production since the Tony Award-nominated Broadway run—starring Mary Beth Fisher and John Drea.

Creative writing professor Bella values her solitude but finds herself opening up to Christopher—a reclusive, mysterious freshman with lofty literary aspirations. As the two connect beyond the classroom, Bella realizes she must ask Christopher for an impossible favor. Their story unfolds to a stunning conclusion, blurring the lines between fiction, friendship and endings.
