P astor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

All of us get a taste of the good life and the truth is when that happens, we usually want more! We’ve been talking about the good life that our culture promotes, typically focused on upward mobility and living out the American Dream of material abundance and prosperity. But Jesus speaks of the good life in a profoundly different way.

Last week as we talked about the Beatitudes, we quoted from the paraphrase of Matthew 5 from The Message: “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you, there is more of God and his rule….You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought… You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.” Jesus wants us to have a life where there is more of God. The best life for us does happen when our mind and heart are put right. To me, that would be a principal goal of the Christian life.

Paradise Perk and Serendipities
Our on-site coffee shop, the Paradise Perk, is open nearly every Sunday morning, 9 am-1 pm. A 16-oz cup of fresh-brewed coffee from the self-serve cart only costs $2, and specialty drinks just a bit more. The Perk also offers a wide variety of espresso drinks, smoothies, teas, and soda. All proceeds support youth missions and make the life-changing trips we offer affordable for our church families and students. In 2018, the senior high youth go on a mission trip to Houston, to help clean up after Hurricane Harvey. Ask Christopher Wurpts about how you can be a part of it even if you aren't a member of the youth group.

The church gift shop, Serendipities, is also open Sunday mornings, 9-11 am, and on Wednesdays, 9 am-12 noon. Purchases support local missions.
